In the Path of Colliding Winds on the Ancient Thracian Sea, Defiantly Stands the Highest Peak, Above the Deepest Undersea Canyon,
In the Eastern Mediterranean Basin…. The Nexus of Divine Nature… The collision of the winds here on Samothrace, Samothraki, Swirling around Mount Saos the last, most southerly peak in Europe’s oldest mountain range… Results in constant battle of North Easterlies, North Westerlies, South Westerlies, and the Meltemi…. The winds circle the mountain in a clockwise direction, Reverse in a counter-clockwise direction, Changing in a day…once…twice… more… as storms come ashore….
In the Path of Colliding Winds, Currents, Tectonic Plates, Civilisations and … Spirits…
The Magic Mountain in the Sea, the Island of Samothraki, is a geographical nexus of wind and sea currents, of meteorological and oceanic currents, and tectonic forces. One of the few places in the world, and certainly the smallest, to have dual climactic zones, one on the island’s north side, and one on the south. At this island mountain, the prevailing south-westerly winds from the North-African Sahara Desert, collide with the north-easterly winds blowing fiercely with jet-engine like compression through the Hellespont of the Dardanelles, from across the Sea of Marmara, sweeping in across the Black Sea from the far away Russian steppes.

An early statue from the Museum in the Temple, of Ancient Kabeiroi Nike, Goddess of Victory of the Battle of the Winds… on this Island serving as the Sanctuary of the Great Gods Kabeiroi, …where the winds swirl around the mountain in one direction and then the other near simultaneously in opposite directions, clashing in battle all around the Theatre of Winds in the Temple on the Heights of Paleopoli, mysterious forces of Divine Nature, on this Magical Mountain in the Sea… Saoki, Samothraki

In the late 1800’s, remnants of this magnificent sculpture of Nike were taken to Paris and restored to it’s present day state at the Louvre museum.
There she remains to this day … Renamed, re-branded and demoted, simply as ‘the Nike of Samothrace’, or ‘Victory of Samothrace’, far from the swirling winds surrounding her rightful realm and domain… .
… far from the Colliseum of Battling winds on Samothraki, for which she was conceived…

Aspiring in magnificence for more than 2,000 years….
the embodied personification of Kabeiroi…
the magical energies of nature …
and their inter-astro interactions emanating from deep within the planet’s magnetic core…
The origin of this statue remains an enigma, as enigmatic as the origin of the winds themselves….
The artistic conception and styling of her sculpting, reveals traces adapted from more than one period, from more than one school of technique, attributed to more than one artist, without conclusive certainty among scholars.
The kinetic motion revealed in her tactile soft wings, the rippling of her gown, the forceful forward momentum of her torso against invisible resistance, are the embodied personification of the blustering energies of the winds themselves.
Ten thousand years of civilisation, and humanity has produced no better visual portrayal of the ubiquitous yet invisible energies of the winds.
This work of art is the pinnacle of civilisation’s expression of reverence to the mysterious, invisible forces and divine dimensions of nature.
To separate her from the surrounding context in which she was conceived, is nothing less than an insult to her creation, a disgrace to the appreciation of art itself, and disrespectful denial of the Divine Dimensions of Nature.
Her rightful place is above the theatre of the winds,
in the Temple of the Great Gods, on the heights of Paleopoli,
and to her Reign as Goddess of the Victory of the Battle of the Winds.
Know the Kabeiroi:
Creation enigmatic,
medium stone static,
ubiquitous yet invisible energies kinetic,
unrivalled art of mankinds’ ten thousand year civilisation…
Wind Shows … Man knows…!
